Tyreke Evans Officially The NBA Rookie Of The Year
Stephen Curry fans like myself knew it was coming, but we were hoping beyond hope that voters would see the light. On Thursday Sacramento Kings rookie Tyreke Evans was named the NBA Rookie Of The Year award.
Evans was able to win the award by becoming only the fourth rookie in NBA history to average over 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The other rookies were Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson and Lebron James.
Stephen Curry also got in the record book by becoming the first rookie in NBA history to shoot over 45% from the field, 40% from three point range and 85% from the foul line.
Brandon Jennings was also in the running for the award after having one of the best scoring performances in a game by a rookie in history (55 points) and also being the only Rookie Of The Year candidate to make the playoffs.

All Star 2011: Stephen Curry vs Tyreke Evans

Stephen Curry All Star 2011
Player Comparison: Stephen Curry vs Tyreke Evans
Tyreke Evans will be an NBA All Star someday, but it will not be next season. In fact I do not see his stats improving much next year beyond maybe 22 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds per game. Not that those are bad stats, but I just feel that Curry will trump those numbers.
First of all Stephen Curry will be a much better leader than Evans. I see Tyreke being kind of like Barron Davis, good numbers but not contributing much in the win column. After a while fans will realize that he is a gunner and his popularity will go down.
By next season I think that the great personality of Curry will have fans hooked and it will give him the edge with voters even if his stats are close to Tyreke’s. Also I think Curry will average 8.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game next season which will put him in the top six in the NBA in both categories and be better than Evans.
All in all I think that Stephen Curry should be able to easily beat out Tyreke Evans in votes for the All Star game, even if Evans beats him for the NBA Rookie Of The Year. What do you think?

Kaman, Clippers Take Down Warriors
Chris Kaman Scores 27 In Win
The season has been a disappointment for the Los Angeles Clippers, but they did have one bright spot. That would be the emergence of Chris Kaman as one of the best centers in the NBA.
Kaman had 27 points, 10 rebounds and blocked a shot as the Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors 107-104 on Saturday night. It was the third time in the last five games that Kaman had scored at least 22 points. He had a rough scoring month in March, but his April has been on pace with the rest of the season.
Kaman is having a career year. He is averaging 18.5 points per game. His previous best season was 15.7 points. He is also having his third best rebounding season at 9.4 per game. His rebounding totals increased after the Clippers traded away Marcus Camby in February.
Stephen Curry Scores 29 In Loss, Eyes Rookie Of The Year Award
With only three games left to prove that he should be the NBA Rookie Of The Year, Stephen Curry is taking advantage of his chances. Curry had 29 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals against the Clippers.
The points put his season average above 17 for the first time this season. That is a little behind the 20 point average that Tyreke Evans has this season. Evans kept on pace in his quest for the rookie award with 27 points tonight against the Dallas Mavericks.

Tyreke Evans Scores 28 In Kings Win
Tyreke Evans Continues Hot Play
The Sacramento Kings beat the Los Angeles Clippers in a battle of two of the worst teams in the NBA. Rookie Of The Year front runner Tyreke Evans had 28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. His scoring may have suffered a little over the last couple of months, but his other stats have improved.
Evans has averaged under twenty points per game in March and April. His rebound totals however were 6.1 in March. His assists were 6.9 in March and are 6.7 so far in April. Most rookies stop playing hard once they hit a rookie scoring slump, however Evans hasn’t quit and contributes to his team in any way he can.
The NBA Rookie Of The Year competition is going down to the wire. Stephen Curry just missed a quadruple double on Wednesday, that performance is sure to stick in voters minds. However Evans more than likely has the award locked up no matter what Curry does.
Another rookie had a good game for the Kings. Omri Casspi had 11 points which was his second double digit scoring game in the last three. Casspi was a candidate for the Rookie Of The Year in the first half of the season, but has averaged under 10 points per game in the last few months.
