Final iWord on iSlate..
So, It’s almost iTime for the iEvent where iSteve will release the iTablet.
So, I’ve decided to post a crazy list of what “I think this thing will have”
Ready??
- Running a new flavor of iPhone OS
- Multitasking (running more than one app at a time)
- Two built in cameras (one in front for video chat, another in back for displaying whats in front of you)
- A thumb print reader (various profile support for various family members)
- OLED screen
- Solar pad for charging (pry won’t work that great)
- Wifi (duh) but cell (att and verizon)
- WiFi connection for gaming using more than one pad at a time.
- Three price points ($599, $699, and $799) for various screen sizes and capacity.
- Side gesture pads (Fingerworks acquisition.)
- HDTV Tuner and PVR built in..(yep, built in)
Well.. there’s my CRAZY list of specs I’m posting…
But what does it look like??
Good question.. How about this?
Those are supposed to be the most official “Leaked” pictures. Closest thing to what could be. It does look like a giant iPhone. If this is the case, the ad that we showed on here would be completely fake.
Well, it’s come down to this.
The Event is scheduled to start in just shy of 9 and 1/2 hours. I can’t wait.
I’ll post my post-thoughts after the event.. EXCITING..

iJake vs iEveryone else on the iSlate/iPad/tablet
Well kids, the clock is ticking (at this moment just over a day away). The excitement builds.. GREATLY!!
What the hell is it going to be?!?
That’s a great question.. A great answer would be a tablet that does everything I want.. and then some. The picture above is simply a mock up design of what one hopes it to be.
Anything harder?
Great question, and I have a great answer.. How about what could be a leaked ad for the wednesday event?
SURE!!
How awesome does that thing look (of course, this is assuming it’s the actual device).
Break the ad down…
What we have first off.. ”10 years in the making”.. which is true.
Secondly, look at the back. HOLY PORTS GALORE!!! There seems to be a few usb ports on this thing.. firewire perhaps.. most likely a mini display port.. Audio Jack?? REALLY??? YES.. (Again, this is all stating if this really is the device…which I hope it is.)
There is also a big black strip across the back. A plastic piece of house the antennas (assuming this thing is aluminum, It’s going to need this part to allow for cell connectivity and wifi).
“A revolution in personal computing..” MEANING ITS GONNA BE A FULL FLEDGED COMPUTER!!! Again, speculation, but I’ll take it! I’ll take it TWICE!!
I see an on screen keyboard, and A DOCK!! The on screen keyboard really interests me, its translucent and awesome looking. When I first got the iPhone, I wasn’t sure how I’d like the touch screen keyboard for texting and such (after all, it’s on screen… how am I supposed to know if I’m hitting the right button.. But you just..you just know people..)
Look’s like if this IS real… It’s going to be branded iPad (which is gay, but makes sense.. Since Apple has been racing to secure that name around the world..mainly in the US, since it was owned by another company before).
Now, let us get back to this on screen keyboard. I could see it appear and disappear via on screen gestures. The dock itself shows a vast array of Apps. iPhoto standing out…Safari as well.
What’s everyone else think?
Leo Laporte of the famous This Week in Tech podcasts has a very different opinion on what this thing COULD be. He doesn’t see it having email (Wait..what?!?) and a very limited web browser (again..what?!?) He thinks it’s going to be more of a T.V. style device than a computer.
Let’s check the facts..
We know its going to be a media device.. we know this.. It’s going to have a content tunnel to various ebooks and magazines. We know it’s going to do video (Amazingly). We know it’s going to be the next generation of gaming (amazingly as well). It of course will rely on internet access (WiFi or Cell Data). And with all this, to think it’s not going to have something as simple as email and web browsing.. It’s ignorance at best. I get the iPhone didn’t have copy and paste for a year (did you really need it.. I mean, Really?) but to think Steve Jobs is going to let this thing out of the gate without email.. Dumb.. sorry.. it is..
Price..Price..Price..
Price is going to be key.. The thought process is around $700 – $1,000 bucks. Alex Albrecht (of diggnation)says he has a source stating the tablet will be “Far less than expected”. What does that mean? Who knows…
Any last words?
So, in closing, I’m going to give you a list of “specs” it’s supposed to have in it. If this is the case, I’d buy one the day they came out (who am I kidding, I’m buying one that day anyways.)

Apple iSlate..or iPad..or iTablet..or iWhatever
Well Apple is at it again. Short of living under a rock, or in some sort of hidden far away land, I’m sure you’ve heard of the rumor of a new product from apple.
This is scheduled for January 27th.
Rumor Mill?
Oh, there are rumors about what this thing is going to be.
Fox news said that a tablet will be released. I think at this point, this information is a given. Then again, Fox news is never right about anything.
What’s this thing going to be? It’s going to be awesome.. and that’s all anyone can really say..

Speculation says It’ll be 10 inches. It’ll be all touch screen (Think a big iPhone). It’ll have wifi (Duh) but also cell network (AT&T and Verizon..depending on who you ask).
It’s supposed to be able to sense who is holding it. Switching accounts based on a built in camera that can see your face..and knows you. (What are you doing, Dave?)..
Apple is said to want to bring new breath into old media(Newspapers, TV, ext..) with this new device. Perhaps a subscription model that gives you tv shows, as well as newpapers?
Now Apple just bought the online music streaming service Lala.com… Rumors speculate this is going to be transformed into itunes.com. A online based version of itunes.
Apple has been quoted saying (from inside..pure speculation) That it wants this tablet to be in every house.. as well as it being a family machine.
So what are the facts?… The facts are we don’t know.. and we won’t know until Steve comes out (black turtleneck and everything) and tells us.. Here it is folks!.. and it’ll be awesome..
What else?
Rumors (mainly from Fox news..but it makes sense) is a new version of iLife and iWork.
iWork has been rumored to have a multi-touch version of it in the works for some time now, and there will most likely be a special version of iLife for this “Tablet”.
Also being rumored is iPhone OS 4.0.
Now..what’s this going to have in it? It’s going to be a huge overhaul (so they say).
The two main features, from what I gather… Multitasking (FINALLY!!) and an overhauled UI.
Why would they release iPhone 4.0 on this date? My guess is because part (or all) of it will be running this new iPad (I pray its not called an iPad).
The OS is going to be the secret sauce in this mixture. This tablet is going to either run on a full blown out version of the new iPhone OS.. or its going to take cues from Snow Leopard 10.6 and the iPhone software into something else completely.
Some iPhone developers have been saying Apple has asked them to create full screen high res versions of their apps (From what I can only see is to run on this new device).
Developers of iPhone/iPod touch apps..(well some of them).. have said that it has a copy of software to develop for the iPhone os 4.0. What they say is it has an option for high resolution previewing.
What we hope to see..
- Bad ass multi touch (I think this is a given).
- HD screen (OLED perhaps.. )
- Cell network connectivity
- A dvd drive to much to ask for??
- Something we’ve never seen before…(surprise me)
- A camera (some rumors said this will not be the case..some have)
- A reasonable price point. (Is a 500 tablet asking to much? I’ll buy it at $799 if I have to though)
- A KICK ASS BATTERY!!!! (full charge.. asking 10 hours… asking to much??)
This thing is rumored to be available in March. It’ll be premiered on January 27th. I’m sure it’s going to be between $700 and $900 dollars. I already have money put away to get one (Yes even knowing nothing about it.. what it does.. or even what it’s called).

2000-2009 A technology decade in review! Part 1
As we enter a new 10 year path, we look back at the technology that has changed our lives. As I write this, I look over at my iPhone and think, where would I be without this little device. It feels like I’ve had it in my hands at all times.
I’d say this device is one of the greatest accomplishments of the last 10 years. Now, I know there are people out there who want to say the iPhone isn’t that great (usually people who don’t know them) but I ask you to look at your cell phone. Not everyone has jumped on this bandwagon, but most have touch screen phones. Ohh..Gee.. I wonder where they came up with that idea.. Thought of it on their own right? Wrong..retard. The iPhone revolutionized the way cell phone manufacturers even look to create new phones. They are the template of the future of cell phones. They also do it the best. The iPhone is more than just a phone. It’s a mobile computer.
When I was a young lad (thats boy for the slow people) I owned a 486DX66 from gateway. This thing flew (insert sarcasm here). 66mhz of pure power. I did a ram upgrade on this baby that put me up to 16 megs of ram.. (yep, I said megs, as in megabytes). Now, This thing was a beast. It would dial up on AOL (which also is big this decade..as in Time Warner kicked them out of their little club) and we’d wait forever on my 56k modem (56k .. v.90 technology.. SPEED BITCH). Do you know how long it takes to load porn on this system with this speed dialed into that internet? Well.. Let me tell you.. You don’t dare try and load a video. Mp3’s took FOREVER to download.
Anyways, Back to my point. My cell phone sitting next to me has a 600 mhz processor in it. Yes, thats right.. my first computer had a 66mhz processor.. my cell phone (the apple iphone) has a 600 mhz processor in it. Apple single handedly crafted the iPhone to have the greatest touch technology as well. No other cell phone compares to how well the touch ability works.
So, iPhone.. I salute you!
So what else happened? Well, iPhone is most likely the technology device of the last 10 years.. but wait.. wait wait ..wait some more.. ok.. ready?
I remember that Press Conference like I was there (I just watched it on the internet.) Steve Jobs walks out with this, “I’m going to own the fucking world with this product” look on his face. And true to form, He did. He released what I have to say is the 2nd greatest product ever to come out of the last 10 years. (I really think the iPhone is more impactful and more life changing, but the iPod is nice too) This product came out with the greatest slogan “1000 songs in your pocket”. Now depending on where you want to go, you can either still do “1000 songs in your pocket..just in a tiny little thing that you need a magnifying glass to look at.” Or if you go with the iPod classic, your new slogan is “Every song ever recorded, and most of the ones yet to be recorded..in your pocket.” Then, they created the iPod touch.. Which really just pisses you off when you realize the iPhone can do it all..Everywhere. I personally had an iPod Mini back in the day (it was green and better than your iPod). I had the iPod touch (which was better than your child/small dog) and now I use the iPhone (which is, in fact, better than you).
So, iPod, I salute you!
