Should Kevin Garnett Get Suspended?
NBA Has A Decision To Make On Garnett
Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah put in his two cents on the violent elbow of Kevin Garnett when he said, “It’s unbelievable. He’s a dirty player. It’s one thing to be competitive and compete. But don’t be a dirty player, man,”. The Miami Heat players probably agree.
Now the NBA must decide whether to suspend Garnett for a game or just leave him with the two technical fouls he was assessed. This decision isn’t just about the elbow of Garnett that struck Quentin Richardson in the face. It has to do with the message that the NBA will want to send to the rest of the league.
I think they will suspend Garnett. They will want all sixteen teams in the playoffs to know that violent altercations will be not be tolerated.
What do you think the NBA should do? What will they do?

NBA Stars Of The Night
Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas. Nowitzki had 27 points and 13 rebounds as the Mavericks beat the the Bobcats. Dirk has helped Dallas to a eight game winning streak and he has been the catalyst for his team. Over the last five games the All Star forward has averaged 30.8 points and 9.2 rebounds.
Marcus Thornton, New Orleans. Thornton has been on a tear as of late. Last night he had his second 30 point game in the last five with a 30 point, 7 rebound game. He has been one of the hottest rookies lately, but it hasn’t translated to team success. The fact is that without Chris Paul in the line-up, the Hornets just can’t seem to win on a consistent basis.
Josh Smith, Atlanta. Smith filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He helped the Hawks blow out the Bulls by 24 points. Over the last five games he has averaged 12.6 rebounds.
NBA Dud Of The Night
Raymond Felton, Charlotte. Felton helped the Bobcats lose to the Mavericks by shooting only 4-of-14 from the field. In the last five games the guard has shot right around 30% from the field. Of course this has contributed to Michael Jordan’s team winning only one of those games. They need stronger performances from Felton to get back into playoff form.
International Player Of The Night
Manu Ginobili, Argentina. I had to go down the list pretty far tonight since the only international player to really play well was Nowitzki and he was on my list of stars. Ginobili did help his team to a win though as he had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks for the Spurs.

NBA Stars Of The Night
Zach Randolph, Memphis. Randolph had a monster game with 31 points and 25 rebounds to help the Grizzlies beat the Knicks. Over the last five games he is averaging 23 points and 13.6 rebounds. Lets just say he has justified his All Star selection. Teammate Marc Gasol almost had a triple double with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists.
Deron Williams, Utah. Williams led the Jazz to a blow out of the Rockets with 35 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds. He hit all four of his three point shots and it was his fifth straight game with at least 11 assists.
Nicolas Batum, Portland. Batum came out of nowhere with 31 points in a win over Minnesota. He also had 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The point total was more than his previous two best performances this season combined.
NBA Dud Of The Night
Richard Hamilton, Detroit. Hamilton shot 6-of-19 from the field in a loss to the Warriors. This comes a game after a 5-for-17 shooting night. His field goal percentage for the season is dangerously close to the 40% mark. The question is whether his drop in performance has more to do with age or the fact that he no longer has Chauncey Billups to set up his shots.
International Player Of The Night
Marc Gasol, Spain. Gasol just missed a triple double for the Grizzlies with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. He seems to be alternating between great shooting nights and poor ones. The game before this 10-15 shooting, Gasol shot 3-for-10 against Charlotte.

NBA Stars Of The Night
Derrick Rose, Chicago. Rose was a question mark to even play the game. However he came through with 29 points on only 18 shot attempts. He also threw in 6 assists to help the Bulls beat the Knicks.
Derron Williams, Utah. Williams helped the Jazz defeat the Rockets by scoring 17 points and dishing out 15 assists. He has his assist average to 9.9 per game, showing that although his shooting touch is off, he is one of the best floor generals in the game. Utah is now only 1.5 games out of the number two seed in the West.
Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City. His shot was a little off, but Durant still ended up with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. The main thing is that he lead his team to victory over the Mavericks. The Thunder are now just a half game out of the number four seed in the West.
NBA Dud Of The Night
Allen Iverson, Philadelphia. I know he was out a few games because of illness in the family, but Iverson stunk it up in the loss to Miami. He hit only one of seven field goal attempts and scored 4 points. He used to be able to survive these poor shooting games by getting to the foul line at will, now that he is getting older it is much harder for him to score when his shot is off.
International Player Of The Night
Jonas Jerebko, Sweden. Jerebko had 21 points with 2 steals in the Piston’s win over the lowly Timberwolves. He has been contributing decent numbers recently, but seems to only be able to do one thing at a time. He has scored in double figures in three of the last five games and grabbed double digit rebounds in the other two games. Hopefully he is able to eventually put together complete games and become a double-double threat.
