Chris Kaman Has Limited Impact On All Star Game
In all fairness, Chris Kaman was not even on the All-Star ballot. As silly as that sounds now, it’s the truth. However it should not have taken an injury to Kobe Bryant to get Kaman into the festivities. He has been probably the most consistent center in the West this season.
Unfortunately Amare Stoudemire is considered a center and he has inflated stats due to playing with Steve Nash, so he was the starter. Not that I don’t think Stoudemire should be in the game, but I just think that Kaman has had a bigger impact for his team.
The Clippers look horrid without Kaman. They get torn apart by opposing big men. He is simply one of the better NBA post players around right now and hopefully next year he gets his dues before the last minute. He plays hard and deserves the nod the second that the All Star reserves get announced.
Of course he didn’t get much playing time. Only 11 minutes with four points and three rebounds. The West squad had too many other front court players to give minutes to. Kevin Durant, Zach Randolph and Pau Gasol coming off the bench meant Kaman would have to settle for a cameo appearance.
I’m sure that is fine with him though. He worked his ass off and got his day in the sun. Hopefully now the Clippers can put a team around him and get him to an NBA playoff.
