Clippers Struggle Without Chris Kaman

Chris Kaman has missed the last two games with a sore back. The Los Angeles Clippers have missed their starting center a lot in those games. Not only did they lose both of those contests, the opposing centers went off without Kaman in the middle.

In a 14 point loss to New Orleans, Emeka Okafor went for 21 points. Okafor isn’t a slouch on offense, but he only averages 11 points a game this year.

Before that game, in a loss to Memphis, Marc Gasol scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The Grizzlies surely took advantage of the absence of Kaman. Against skilled big men like Gasol, the Clippers don’t have much of a chance without him.

The point is that Chris Kaman is one of the two most valuable players for the Clippers (Baron Davis being the other one). Even with Marcus Camby in the middle, they sorely miss him when he’s out.
