NBA Player Profile: David Lee

David Lee is one of the hardest working guys in the NBA. He is a 6-foot-9 guy who rebounds like a seven footer. David has played through the worst that previous Knicks GM Isiah Thomas could throw at him. Now that New York is improving he should reap some of the rewards including an All-Star bid.

Strengths: Lee is a great rebounder and has great shot selection. He is a decent passer for a big man and shoots 75% plus in free throws.

Weaknesses: It’s not a surprise that a Mike D’Antonio player would struggle on defense and that is the case with Lee. His less than half a block a game is well below average for an NBA center. He has also missed all eight of his career three point shots.

Our Opinions

James: There are a lot of teams that would love David Lee on their roster. He is a true energy guy who can also score. If the Knicks return to prominence in the NBA, Lee will be a big part of it. If they continue to falter then I hope New York trades him and gets him out of that hell.

George: His scoring is a product of Mike D’Antonio who’s up and down pace works well for Lee. On another team he might struggle. The Knicks pace creates a lot of missed shots so it is no surprise that he grabs a lot of rebounds. He is an okay player, but definitely not an NBA All-Star.
