NBA Player Profile: Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol was the 2002 NBA Rookie of the Year and is one of the most talented big men in the game. He was the missing piece that the Lakers needed to win another championship. Pau is most comfortable when he is not expected to be the team leader, which made teaming with Kobe Bryant a very good idea.

Strengths: Pau has perhaps the best foot work of any NBA seven footer. He is a very good passer for a big man and blocks a lot of shots for a guy who usually plays power forward. He has very good shot selection.

Weaknesses: Pua is a terrible three point shooter, luckily he doesn’t take too many. He isn’t a guy who is willing to be the leader of a franchise despite the fact that he is one of the best players in the world.

Our Opinions

James: A true “glue player”, any team that is one superstar away from an NBA championship would love to have him. When his career is over it will be interesting to see how his legacy looks. His stats are solid, buy not quite Hall-of-Fame numbers. However I think his impact with the Lakers should get him enshrined.

George: He’s like a feminine version of his younger brother Marc. His skill set should get him better stats, he just isn’t aggressive enough. As far as his unwillingness to be a team leader, that is b.s., he is paid a lot of money, he should be more of a leader.
