Yi Jianlian Will Be Great in the Second Half
I am predicting that Yi Jianlian will have a breakout stretch in the second half of the season. The New Jersey Nets forward was the number 6 pick in the 2007 NBA draft. He has shown some signs of life, but has been very inconsistent.
Before he got injured and missed seven weeks he was having a solid season. He is currently averaging 12.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1 block per game. He is a very solid free throw shooter and can hit the three.
The main obstacle for Yi to become a great NBA player is his aggressiveness. The same has been said about Yao Ming. They just do not show emotion and don’t take a leadership role very well. Yi has almost looked scared during his first couple of seasons. He looks like he might break in half. His toughness could definitely be questions.
That seemed to change on Wednesday night as Yi showed emotion and seemed to demand the ball from his teammates. He seemed excited to be playing. If he continues this attitude adjustment and stays healthy then I predict that he will average 15 points and 9 rebounds per game the rest of the season. Those aren’t mind altering stats, but very solid.
