Why isn’t Pedro Martinez playing right now?
Will Pedro end up a Phillie?
Wow there are some bad pitchers starting in the Major Leagues right now. Some guys who have no business holding on to their spot in the rotation.
So how is it that a future Hall of Famer can’t find a spot on one of those teams? I realize that Pedro Martinez had a terrible season last year. His 5.62 ERA was the worst of his career. Plus the fact that he hasn’t pitched a full season since 2005.
Seriously though folks. If Barry Zito can secure a seven figure contract, then surely someone will pay Pedro a few million dollars and take a chance on him. If he flops then you may get a quality number five starter. If he does well then you have a legitimate ace on your staff.
The Phillies would be smart to sign him. The timing would be great too. With his history of injuries it might be a good idea to only get him for half of a season. He will have only started wearing down once you get to the playoffs. Thats when you really want him anyway. When you shorten your rotation.
I am going to predict that the Philadelphia Phillies will make the right decision. They will sign Pedro for the rest of the year. He will help them secure a playoff spot and give them a pretty good chance at repeating.
